The City of Ottawa estimates that in the first week of April 2011, 68.6 million litres of raw sewage spilled into the Ottawa River. That is a million more litres than last year at about this time (67.4 million litres).

Most beaches on the majestic Ottawa River which flows beneath Parliament Hill will again be closed this summer because of the high fecal bacterial count i.e. shit content, as has been the case for more than a decade.

You would think that with a historic river that is rapidly becoming a sewer, Ottawa City Hall’s priority would not be spending an estimated 300 million dollars on a football stadium and an adjacent parking garage.
